Vacation Recap

I went on vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina a few weeks ago, and I had so much fun. I couldn't have asked for better company than my sweet boyfriend, Joe. We spent most of the time just laying low and hanging out on the beach, but we did a few fun things like getting dressed up for a nice dinner, going crab hunting, and playing mini golf.
Here is a quick recap (in the form of pictures, of course) of our week! Can I go back now?

I made a Shutterfly book to commemorate our wonderful week together, which is definitely a more fun way to look through pictures than just scrolling through a few of them. So feel free to look through that, too!

Graduation Party!

I don't know if I'll ever get a hang of blogging regularly, no matter how much I'd like to. But for now I'll just have to catch up on everything I've been meaning to post!

Starting with my graduation party on June 2nd. I had a lot of fun and got to see many of the people I love all in one place. And it was so fun buying all the party supplies and decorating for the event! I decided to go for a Lilly Pulitzer-esque theme because who doesn't love Lilly?

Here are some pictures from the party! My mom ordered the cake from a local bakery, but it came plain blue with "Congratulations Alex" in the middle. I bought a can of icing and dyed it into 6 different shades of pink and green and actually painted the flowers on with a paintbrush myself! It was time consuming but very worth it!

Miscellaneous May

I've been so busy with finals and projects and graduation sneaking up on me that I've been slacking with my posts once again. Hoping that summertime will allow for more blogging!

Here are a few pictures just to let y'all know what I've been up to :)

Today's Yard Sale Find!

Today my school had a yard sale to raise money for our graduation party coming up at the end of May, and I went to sell baked goods for my senior project.

Anyway, I was looking through the piles of clothes and found a few cute things. A khaki jacket from Gap kids that fit me, a pair of J Crew chino pants, a cute dress with tags still on it, and one other amazing find.

A vintage late 1960's Lilly Pulitzer skirt in perfect condition and in my size. I about fell to the floor in shock. I have no idea why someone would donate such a valuable item to a yard sale, but I'm not complaining. It was only $1!

Here are photos of the skirt and of my day!

Horse Show Madness

So this past weekend, I had my very first horse show (well, first one since 2006, and that one didn't really count because I was an awful rider back then). I did combined training - intro B and crossrails division, and I also did intro C!

I got 5th out of 10 people for combined training and 4th out of 5 people for intro C. There were definitely things I know I could've done better, but I was proud of myself!

It was a super fun day watching all the riders and hanging out with everyone from my barn. My dad even came to watch :) My mom couldn't though, because she was running a 10k.

Anyway, I bought new tall boots for the show, and didn't wear them until the day of, so my legs and feet were KILLING ME. Lesson learned - if you're going to wear a pair of boots for 7 hours, break them in first! I still have blisters and scabs...

Here are some pictures :)

Tacking Secret up before her big day!

Crossrails! Haha, I can definitely jump higher, but I didn't want to overachieve for my first show. We'll get to the 2 ft division soon enough ;)

Cantering the 20m circle in dressage! Going to the left was so pretty but the first circle to the right is what messed us up - she picked up the canter too late and was on the wrong lead. Silly Secret!

Last minute lessons by the greatest instructor ever!

Watching other people warm up.
Entering the dressage ring for intro B! First class of the day! (these pictures aren't in order)
