Today's Sale Rack Find 3/23

I've been awful about posting this week, but things have not been going my way. I lost my debit card yesterday and I've had to order a new one, which is such a pain because I won't get out for about 5-9 days. I've also been such the past few days. Grr! But hopefully I'll have a little more free time to post over the next few days :)

Today I went to lunch with my mom and one of her friends. After we ate we shopped around for a bit and I spotted this amazing denim jacket in Anthropologie in the sale room. I'm in love. This is seriously so perfect for spring! And I finally own a denim jacket! My mom was nice enough to get it for me, and I will definitely get good use of it :)

Look at that beading detail on the collar! Very unique! Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores but it's so darn expensive that I only own a few things from there, must of which were purchased on consignment.

Outfit of the Day 3/19

Most of my outfits are very "frugal friendly," which is sort of what I'm trying to aim this blog around, but today's outfit is definitely an exception. I rarely splurge, but a few weeks ago when I saw this shirt I had to have it. And of course, I had to have the coordinating pants and cardigan...

Shirt: Esley purchased from Monkee's - $48
Mint cardigan: H&M - $18
Orange pants: SOLD Design Lab purchased from Monkee's of Richmond - $81 (originally $108)
Suede boots: Envy purchased from Tunic Consignment Boutique - $30 (consignment)
Socks: J Crew - $15
Earrings: Thrift shop purchase - $1
Ring: Gift from my grandmother

Total spent: $193

My week in a Nutshell: Horses and Hairstyles

This week was quite uneventful - I was on spring break from my community college so I did lots of sleeping in and hanging around the house. However, yesterday my barn went to a horse show! Although I didn't ride, I did go and support my "teammates." It was so fun seeing all the little girls ride :) the weather was perfect!

Every Sunday I'll be posting odds and ends from my week just to show what I've been up to other than my regular posts :)

Happy St. Patty's Day! XOXO

Going Green

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today I'm showing y'all some of my favorite wardrobe staples in green. All of the items pictured are not only adorable and practical, but very affordable! I actually own the pleated dress and wore it for Easter last year. It looks and feels like an expensive dress but is only $27. What are y'all up to this green holiday?

Trends I'm Loving: Foxy

Foxy Trend

One of my favorite trends that I've seen lots of recently is clothing/accessories that are embroidered with foxes! Growing up, I've always loved horses and everything associated with them, so naturally I'm attracted to foxes due to all the fox hunting paintings I've seen. Something about this animal just seems "regal" and "proper" to me, so even the casual rain boots and simple tee look super girly and fun! While I don't have anything "foxy" yet, I'm definitely going to have to invest in some soon! What's your favorite?

1: Navy Bangle
Aqua Bangle
 2. KJP Men's Tie
 3. Juicy Couture Tee
 4. Women's Bow Tie Bracelet
 5. Saddle Bag
 6. Rain Boots
7. Tory Burch Flats

Outfit of the Day 3/14

The inspiration behind today's outfit is from when I walked into my closet this morning and saw this sweater vest. I bought it over the summer and thought it would be perfect for fall and winter, but then never wore it. Since Spring is coming up, I decided I needed to get at least one good wear out of it before the warm weather sets in.

Sweater vest: Brooks Brothers - $40 (sale)
Gingham oxford: Gap - $14 (sale)
Jeans: Lucky Brand purchased at Marshalls - $30 (originally $100)
Flats: Brooks Brothers - gift from Joe
Earrings: gift from a friend

Total spent: $84

Outfit of the Day 3/12

I had class today, and I'll be off to babysitting in a few minutes, so I wanted to be cute yet practical.

My mom went to Potomac Mills Outlets over the weekend and picked me up this J Crew "Perfect Shirt" in pink gingham. So comfortable and versatile! My leggings are from New York and Company and are probably 2 or 3 years old. This green Eddie Bauer rain jacket is perfect for spring and I've had it for a few years as well. My Cole Haan boots are probably my most worn shoes of my collection (and trust me, I have a LOT of shoes). They are so comfortable (infused with Nike Air technology) and despite being worn so often are in great condition. As usual, I'm wearing my Kate Spade watch, and today I wore a ring that my grandma gave me over the weekend. It's real gold and was her mother's growing up. I thought it was so unique and it fit my finger perfectly! The earrings I picked up from a thrift store a few weeks ago. I only paid $1 for them! My skull necklace is from Nordstrom - it's so delicate and simple and the best part is it can be worn long or doubled! Cute way to add a little bit of an edge to a preppy outfit ;)

The Perks of Having Small Feet

I found these fun flats at Target today in the kid's section for $17.99. How perfect would these be with dark skinnies and a simple white top?

I love having small feet because kids shoes are always cheaper, and since not many women wear a size 6 or 6 1/2 (equal to a 4 or 5 in kids), I don't have to worry about my size being sold out. If you have small feet, I would highly recommend shopping in the kid's department to save money and find unique styles!

What do y'all think?

Madras Blazer

I ordered this blazer from an Instagram account called "moniquescloset" last week, and it came in the mail today. Something about it just spoke to me and I had to have it. I actually like it more than I originally thought I would! It's J Crew and I only paid $16 for it. Perfect for spring :)

Sorry for the awful quality; I had a super busy day and just took a few quick shots with my phone.

Today's Sale Rack Finds 3/8

Today, my FAVORITE boutique, Monkee's of Richmond, was having a huge winter sale. Everything winter was $25 - including brands like Kate Spade and Elizabeth McKay. I got some goodies and only spent $75 on items originally worth $490 altogether!

Let's start with the shoes. These are "Butter" brand suede heels with cute fray detailing on the toe. These fit like a glove, are so comfortable, and the heel is the perfect height! They're real suede and leather and are made in Italy. The original price was $265. I paid $25. How crazy is that?!

Next, I got this dress. It's flattering, versatile, and so girly and fun! It was originally $95 and I got it for $25, and the best part is, I don't have to wait until next winter to wear it! I think it would be perfect for spring! Such an easy dress to throw on for a quick, effortless outfit :)

And lastly, one of my favorite things ever, is this preppy argyle clutch! This has been in the boutique for awhile, and I'm surprised no one bought it before me (not that I'm complaining!). I've been wanting a nice clutch for quite a bit to take to events and date nights, and this is perfect! It was originally $130 and I got it for $25. I am so happy about this! So amazing. And it even came with a pouch to put it in during travel so the sequin and beading doesn't get ruined. Love!

Outfit of the Day 3/7

It snowed quite a bit yesterday, and today since classes were cancelled, I met some friends for lunch. All the snow was melting like crazy since it was about 50 degrees and sunny today, so I had to be prepared for some yucky slush!

The simple pearl earrings I found at an antique shop a few years ago when I was traveling with my parents. I think they were only like $2. The vest is from Delia's a few years ago, and it was about $40. I got this polka dot shirt from Marshalls and have gotten so much wear out of it. It was only $20! These jeans are my go-to pants to wear with boots, because they have a very skinny leg and don't add bulk. I got them from Aeropostale for about $15. My Kate Spade watch was a Christmas gift from my mom. I'm so in love with it (While I was out with my friends I had to get it fixed because I realized it said "4" instead of "7"). And lastly, my rain boots. I've gotten so many compliments on these every time I've worn them! They're perfect for the snow and/or rain because they're waterproof and fleece-lined. I got them from the Sperry Topsider website on sale for $60.

A Little Introduction

Hello! I'm Alex, and I've wanted to start a blog for awhile now. Thanks to the recent snow storm for cancelling classes, I've dedicated my day to finally getting around to it. I live in the Richmond, VA area and go to school as a high school senior/college freshman (I haven't graduated yet but I'm taking classes at the local community college to get ahead). I want to eventually work in the psychiatry field, so I've got a ways to go.

I have always loved preppy style - Lilly Pulitzer, Ralph Lauren, Vineyard Vines, and the like. However, it's not so fun spending all of my paycheck on a single item. So to get the style I want without breaking the bank, I shop at thrift stores, consignment stores, and sale racks. However, sometimes I do splurge and I think that's completely fine as long as I don't get too carried away ;)

I have a boyfriend named Joe that lives in Michigan. The distance is so hard but when I do get to see him we have the most amazing time - and he shares my love for fashion so I always get to play dress-up with him and find cute deals for him as well. I have a Westie named Cooper and he's the most adorable dog I think I've ever seen. I also ride horses about 3 times a week and work as a nanny after school and on weekends!

Here are a few pictures that sum up my life and what my blog posts will mostly consist of!

Joe and me before dinner at The Tobacco Company
He's such a cutie :)

An outfit of mine - J Crew gingham from J Crew Factory, Barbour jacket (gift from Joe), Lucky Brand jeans from Marshalls, Kate Spade watch, and Clarks Desert Boots (gifts from Mom)

One of my senior pictures - what a gorgeous boy, right!?

This is the horse I lease, Secret. If you see me post any horse pictures, it's probably her. She's an Arabian/Thoroughbred and she's such a sweet girl, although sometimes she can have a bit of an attitude. Riding is my therapy.

And just a quick selfie to show everyone what I look like ;)
My dog, Cooper!

I'm so excited to start blogging! I hope this gets easier as I go along...
